About Dr. Sindhuja

Dr. Sindhuja is a committed dance practitioner with a disciplined approach to the art. A former practicing architect, she chose to build her career in the performing arts. She began with Bharatanatyam as a child and later pursued Kuchipudi, continuing to explore its subtleties. Her training started with Smt. Madhavi, Smt. Padma Kalyan, Sri Vedantam Raghava, and then under the mentorship of Dr. Yashoda Thakore. She regularly attends workshops by masters in dance and allied fields to broaden her knowledge and perspective. More recently, she has been learning Odissi under Smt. Sharon Lowen to expand her movement vocabulary. She is also an avid painter, believing in expression through multiple art forms.

Dr. Sindhuja began performing at a young age and has primarily been a soloist, while also taking lead roles in dance dramas and group productions. She holds a Doordarshan B High grading in Kuchipudi. Her work has been presented at national and international platforms of reputation. To further her love for the arts, she established the Sinjini School of Arts in 2016, where she trains students in dance and music. Known for her grace, eloquence, and rhythmic command, Dr.  Sindhuja approaches dance holistically- blending practice, theory, and creativity into her artistic journey.
