Choreography

Sindhuja’s choreographic endeavours aim for a style of their own, shaped by her readings and the dance traditions she follows closely. Her work grows out of observation and interpretation, striving for a distinct voice for every piece.

Composed dance to over 25 solo repertoire works including Shabdams, Javalis, Tarangams, Keertanas and others in solo and group formats for self, students, and fellow dancers, spanning traditional to present-day styles.

“Samjna” – Co-choreographed for a duet on a mythological character Chudala, Raas, Hyderabad (2018).
“Stages of Grieving” performance in a ‘Documentary on Mourning’ featured on Doordarshan and now on YouTube (2017).
“Churnika” – A distinct composition by poet Ramadasu, Hyderabad (2016).

Choreography, for me, is a journey that unfolds step by step- a practice of layering where each thought, sound, and action adds depth until the whole takes shape.
